Some days “Paper or Plastic?” can be an overwhelming question. I talked with a client today about how we as women waste so much time making decisions, wondering what other people are thinking about us, obsessing about doing the right thing and agonizing over whether we’re good enough to do anything. Stop!!
We need to stop spinning and take action. Did you ever notice how a man will do something and ask questions later? They don’t spin they act. They’re not worried about what someone else is thinking. They are too busy getting stuff done.
It’s time for us to support each other in living our dreams and taking action. It’s time to look at the big picture and move away from the microscopic view. It’s time to MAN UP! I’m ready, are you?

Spiritual faith is knowing that we don’t walk this journey alone. When we turn our awareness to God we know something greater is supporting us in our efforts and on our journey. As we develop the awareness of something greater than ourselves, we see more dramatic results.
Life can be so challenging. It can shake our faith on a daily basis. I know the more grounded I am in faith, I can meet the challenges that show up. I am truly grateful for my awareness of faith, God’s Love and the extraordinary blessings in my life.

There are several phases to the transplant process. Phase 1 is complete! Paula’s cells were successfully transplanted to Laurence’s blood.
Laurence and I have learned so much through this process. The practice of taking one day at a time. The power of prayer. The extraordinary healing presence of love.
There are many other phases to move through in this process. We are truly grateful for each other, the love of family, the partnership of our friends, the Presence of God and the amazing prayer and love being sent our way. God is truly gracious.

My husband Laurence will be admitted tomorrow to OHSU for a bone marrow transplant. The process is grueling on the body and taxing on the emotions. You wouldn’t know it by Laurence’s joyful smile and upbeat attitude. If he is anxious, he is keeping it to himself.
His attitude is a stark contrast from the experience I had with my Dad last week. The difference is not in the personalities of these two men but in their practice of faith.
The spiritual journey begins with the simple practice of observing our thoughts and emotions and the willingness to train them. Simple but not easy. It takes persistence and patience to identify our fear thoughts and replace them with new ones. It takes dedicated practice to turn away from the appearances of the world and focus on God instead. Each time we conquer fear we develop faith. Each experience helps us build courage to face the fear and walk through it.
Three steps for releasing fear:
1. What is the fear that is haunting you? Fear of lack, fear of illness, fear of being alone are examples of fears that are connected to very powerful emotions.
2. Choose a word of faith that is the opposite of your fear. Examples: lack = abundance, illness = wholeness, being alone = love. Connect it with your experience of God.
3. Create a statement of truth and speak it aloud. Often. Every time the fear thought comes up.
I release my fear of lack and am grateful for God’s abundance that is the source of my good.
I release my fear of illness and am grateful for the wholeness of God that is the truth of my body.
I release my fear of loneliness and am grateful for God’s abundant love that is present in every area of my life.
Replacing fear with faith is not easy but is incredibly a powerful way to shift our emotions and our thinking. It transforms our experience from being a victim to be victorious in life. Blessings for an empowered l

I just returned from visiting my family back east. My Dad is going through some health challenges and I was glad I was there to help. I learned a lot from listening to his words. Mostly I could hear myself. When he complained and it irritated me, I realized how many times I complain. When he shared his worries (about pretty much everything). I could hear my own worries being repeated.
We receive a lot of our mental programming and beliefs from our parents. They did the best they could. They learned from their parents. It is a waste of time to blame them for our conditions, but it is incredibly valuable to listen and learn from them.
I love my Dad dearly. He has a great sense of humor, honorable integrity and enormous love for his family. I can honor him by taking on his values and letting go of my beliefs that don’t embrace life. I am so grateful for the awareness to listen and learn.
