Do you know what you want? I gave a workshop recently and watched the participants struggle trying to identify what it is they want. Most of the time women don’t know or they have a hard time articulating their desires. Do I dare ask? What if I don’t get it? Do I really deserve to ask for this? Good girls are trained from an early age not to be greedy or want too much. So we don’t ask for anything. We often stop ourselves from holding a vision for the future. The lack of vision actually creates an aura of confusion and doubt.
I’ve noticed a direct link between a belief in limitation and making good or sound choices. When there is limitation, making a choice to purchase something is excruciating. There is always lurking the fear that I will spend too much or purchase the wrong item. Wanting something and evaluating the ability to actually get it can take days or weeks to make a decision.
Getting out of the belief in scarcity takes humility and patience and willingness to change. Here are some tools:
1. Willingness to observe old patterns of belief.
Write down your beliefs as you discover them. Don’t judge them. Just observe your thoughts. Once we recognize them, we can begin the process to retrain the mind.
2. Willingness to be in financial integrity.
Is your checkbook balanced? Bills paid on time? Do you make regular contributions to charity? Be honest and do an evaluation to assess your financial integrity. Afraid to look? Connect with a financial advisor to help take you through the process.
3. Willingness to receive.
Practice receiving. A complement. A gift. A smile. Expand your envelope of receiving. Then when you receive, give gracious thanks.
4. Willingness to not judge yourself.
The next time you find yourself judging a thought or action, stop and say That’s not the truth about me. I am a divine expression of love. Be patient. Change takes time.

This is a great little book with a powerful message. A very clever way to talk about universal principles. I found it to be a great message for anyone on their spiritual journey. The authors not only give the principle but demonstrate how to put it into action. Great read!

Three days of hot is one thing but three days above 100 degrees is ridiculous! I woke up wishing I could save some of the sunshine for another day. Wouldn’t it be nice to have it on file and request it during the rainy season? I can dream about it….

I noticed a few weeks ago that one of the tires on our car looked a little flat. I stopped at the gas station to put air into it. The tire was not inflating no matter how much air was flowing into it. After a visit to the tire store, it turned out to be a bad valve on the tire.
The car manual states that inflating car tires with the correct amount of air is essential for maximizing gas mileage and ensuring even tire wear. So the same goes for maintaining the balance of spirit, mind and body. If we sustain a constant relationship with our spiritual practice (meditation, journaling, prayer, spiritual mentoring, etc) we are able to retain a peaceful mind and ease in our daily activities.
Do you ever have one of those days when it feels like you’re moving through cement trying to get something done? That’s a good indication of being out of spiritual balance. Our once peaceful experience leaks out and the body feels deflated, lacks energy and getting anything accomplished feels like mission impossible. Stress builds in the body and doubt creeps into the mind.
Doubt can show up like a bad valve in our thinking. No matter how many positive affirmations, prayers or good thoughts we have in the moment, doubt is a slow leak that can leave us drained, diminished and discouraged. Tire pressure is measured in PSI, or pounds per square inch. Spiritual balance can be measured in DDP or daily dedicated practice. As we maintain our practice we leave little room for doubt or uncertainty to take hold.
The flat tire reminded me that while traveling the often rough, bumpy road of life that it is important to take the time to maintain spiritual balance. It can boost our faith and keep the wheels of life moving with ease and grace.

I’ve been working with forgiveness for the past few weeks. Mother Theresa said, “If we really want to love, we must learn how to forgive.” I noticed how limited I am when I have separation with another in my life.
It is easier to forgive when I learn to reflect and not react. Reacting to behavior of others causes stress and pain.
Dr. Wayne Dyer stated it best, “How do you get world peace? You get world peace through inner peace. If you’ve got a world full of people who have inner peace, then you have a peaceful world.” I’m practicing.
